Ernie Stern is a partner in the Akerman LLP law firm engaging in the practice of corporate and securities law. His clients include public and private emerging companies, many of which are technology based. Ernie assists these clients in their growth plans through venture financing in the form of private placements with high-net-worth individuals, institutional venture capital, PIPE investments, and IPOs. Recently, Ernest handled one of the first 20 confidential IPO filings under the JOBS Act for an emerging growth company. Additionally, he advises companies in cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions; and he has extensive experience in advising on SEC and NASD compliance issues. Previously, Ernie practiced law as a partner at the Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ernie’s current boards and associations include Business Alliance of George Mason University, Board of Directors; Northern Virginia Technology Council, Member; Mid- Atlantic Venture Association, Member; and Active Angels, Member. Ernie holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College and both a J.D. and an LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University Law School.
