Biography
Susanne Slater currently serves as the President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Washington, DC & Northern Virginia (Habitat DC-NOVA). She previously served as the CEO of DC Habitat for eleven years and oversaw the 2022 merger of DC Habitat and Habitat NOVA. Prior to her appointment as the CEO, she served on the Board of Directors of DC Habitat. Susanne has over 25 years of increasingly responsible positions in government, academia and the nonprofit sector with a long and varied association with housing policy and finance from many vantage points. She now serves as the Chair of the Advisory Board of the DC Housing Production Trust Fund, as a Board member of the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) representing 140 DC organizations, and as a Mayoral appointee for the Black Homeownership Strike Force. Prior to her work with Habitat, she served as senior staff in the U.S. Senate and at the White House Office of Management and Budget. Susanne holds an MBA in public and private finance from Cornell University and a BA from Smith College.
